A Tale of Three Coffee Tables

Imagine you have inherited a beautiful coffee table from your friend/former roommate (who so happened to have been holding it for another friend).  You also even tried to give it back to the friend’s friend, but hear nothing back.  You’ve inherited a real treasure!

After 2 years and many parties later, the original coffee table owners come out of nowhere and ask to take their coffee table back!  (Insert gasp here!)  Unable to lie and tell them you tossed it, you sadly give it back…missing it for its usefulness, but happy to see it leave because its parents sucked and ruined the niceness of the table, not to mention your weekend.

Now imagine that they come to reclaim it the day before your planned BBQ and desperately need a coffee table to put drinks on.  Enter craigslist!  With quick maneuvering and $20 in hand, you come across a decent substitute and can easily stain it with enough time to dry before you get your meat on the grill the next day…and so it begins…

Having no need for the side table at the moment, you quickly stain your coffee table and tadaaaaaa….

New substitute coffee table!

Now I should stress the word “substitute”…the table got a lot of compliments and actually had storage features, but it is far too small for what was required.  So time goes by with the table getting some good use and after looking at craigslist again, you find the perfect new-used table.  Only $50 (talked down from $75).  Why are you still standing there?  Hurry up and get it!…and so you did.

Success!

Success!

And thus ends my story (ok ok, it’s a true story.  I’m not bitter or anything…).  Either way, I’m very excited for this table and I can’t wait to put my next party picture up.  If only I was still in the house, I won’t be back for another month and a half!
