I just saw the Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour cirque du soleil show.  I had a great time!  Although I feel it was more dance and music than acrobatics, there was still a good amount of in it, and it was very entertaining.  It made me realize that I I should listen to more MJ because they played a few songs I wasn’t familiar with.  I think that if MJ were still alive and saw what kind of honor he was being given, he’d be pretty happy.  (P.S. I am not discussing his personal life, just his music and the show).

Is this tour stopping off in your city?  Are you going or did you go? If you went, what did you think?

1. Making the bed every day – OK, I will admit that I NEVER EVER EVER make the bed.  It is a horrible trait.  I mostly only make the bed when I am on a cleaning/decluttering spree.  Since Jan. 1, I have made the bed every single day after getting out of bed…well kind of half-assed, but that’s better than nothing.  Baby steps after all

2. Eliminating junk mail – I actually did this last year, but need to revisit.  I wake up to 18 emails every day.  I delete at least 15 of them.  I hate junk mail.  I signed up for things because they were very trendy at the time and I find that I’m never using them (mostly daily deal sites and discount shopping sites).  So I am not only unsubscribing to them, I am also making sure that I CANCEL the account altogether.  I haven’t gotten through all of them yet, but I am slowly whittling down my inbox number.

3. PHONE STACK – I just discovered Phone Stack yesterday when my cousin tweeted this article.  I am COMPLETELY guilty about staring at my phone during meals (hell, during TV, running, whatever I can get away with), and I know it’s a medium-to-high level of rudeness so that idea could not have come at a better time.  The basics are that everyone stacks their phone in the middle of the table during a meal and whoever picks theirs up first pays for the whole bill.  Shawn and I did a phone stack last night for dinner and we didn’t pick it up the entire time we were eating.  I actually got to ask him how his day at work was!  Now I don’t know that we’ll necessarily play Phone Stack all the time, but it’s a great way to be away from the phone and give mealtimes(and the people you eat with) the importance that they deserve.

Anyways, I did want to show you these cool hanging designs I found while I was out and about.  The first one is a bauble design from Anthropologie, probably leftover from Christmas and not yet taken down.  The other is a light fixture with designed jars.  I found it at Chilis restaurant of all places!  I think they look fab-o.  If I could make this design in my own (future or present) place, I would!

I am sitting here writing an email to my nephew with my recap of 2011.  (a la that Google commercial).  How perfect because 1-it is a completely adorable idea, and 2-it just helped me with my 2011 recap.

January – June
1. Met Mei Li, my niece who was born a few months earlier in October, 2010.
2. I began volunteering in the Marketing, Street Team department for the San Diego Asian Film Foundation.
3. I ran my 2nd ever half-marathon at the Zoo Park Safari.
4. I turned 29 and quickly created my 30 before 30 list (which not all was finished so that is pretty much out the window, though I’m still proud of what I managed to get done).
5. I went with Jenny to see Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj in concert.
July – December
1.I tried out skydiving for the first time.  It scared me big time, but I had a lot of fun too.
2. My nephew, Mason, was born!
3. Watched my friends Josephe and Janette get married
4. Saw Adele, and Katy Perry in concert (also with Jenny).
5. Had a family reunion, mostly to meet Mason, and also surprise my mom with her belated birthday party.
6. I raced my second sprint triathlon.  It was during the same weekend as the 10th year anniversary of 9/11.  It was a hectic and reflective weekend.
7. Worked the 12th annual San Diego Asian Film Festival (where the culmination of my work resulted in)
8. Went back to Virginia to watch my friend, Jessie, get married, have a reunion with my college girlfriends and see my parents.  All in one week.
9. Celebrated the Christmas celebration by seeing The Nutcracker, The San Diego Parade of Lights, Christmas Card Lane, and spent the holidays with Shawn’s family.

2012

I don’t want to predict 2012 just yet.  I have a few inklings in mind for the moment.  I will just leave you with what Jenny found on Pinterest.

I finally got around to listening to the whole album, Barton Hollow (same name of the first single I saw/heard).  Amazing.  I was a little taken back that all the songs didn’t sound like Barton Hollow (what I had initially expected based on hearing Barton Hollow).  Nevertheless, I enjoyed how simple, sweet, and relaxing the rest of the album is to listen to.  For instance:
